Well school is done for me. I have completed all of my assignments, and I am done with Digital Photography Class. This being said this is my last post for a long while if not forever on this website. I am not planning on deleting this site, so anyone that may view this site can have access to it in the future, there just won't be any new content at least until I get a computer of my own and can access Weebly again. So, I guess this is a good bye to this website and anybody who may view it now or in the future.

I had to take an everyday object and use the objects to create some drawings. I got this from my teacher who got this from an artist named Victor Nunes (click here for website) I am not good at drawing (as you can bluntly tell, but then again that is why I am in photography not art class) Ignoring the fact that I cannot draw good even if my life depended upon it The concept of doing this assignment is good. You have to take an object and look at it differently to create it in a way to be able to draw something and make it look like something.
As of today, graduation is coming up in twelve days and the end of school is in ten days (including weekends and Memorial day). This being said it is coming in hot and we already got our caps and gowns. I hoped to get more photos of the cap and gown, but even though I cleaned the lens off all the photos had a weird haze over the photos that I took. It was probably due to the weird lighting and possibly not cleaning my lens off good enough,. With that being said I only got one good photo which is of the 17' that is on the tassel. The background is my gown so that it matches the tassel and lets the 17' stick out.
So I did the A-Z challenge where you try to find letters A-Z in everyday objects. Pretty simple, but yet challenging because you cannot purposefully modify objects so that the form in letters (ex. placing pencils to have the letter M or something) I found the letters (top to bottom and left to right) C, I, L (just realized it was backwards), O, R, S, T, U, V (it is upside down), X, and Y. I found 11 out of the 26 letters. I challenged myself to find them in all one class period and I think I did pretty good for having a limited area and only one hour to find and edit all the photos.
So we have a green house at the school and the day of the flower/plant sale I went in (before they were selling) to take photos of the flowers. Since the flowers were all compacted together the background may look like grass or somewhere outside, which I think is nice so I do not have the ugly look of the green house in the background. I love how bright the colors look and got detailed some of them got.
Once again it is raining out, so instead of staying inside, I decided to go out and take some pictures of when it was actually raining, So far, it is more of a drizzle, not pouring, but not sprinkling either. Doing this assignment, I did try to capture the rain drops hitting a puddle, but there were not enough rain drops that the photos I took did not turned out (and not pictured above)
However despite this I took a photo of a dirty car that the rain was running down the sides of it liked how the car looked with the streaks of water and obviously photographed it. In the middle I took a photo of a plant that had some water droplets formed on it. I went as close as I could without disturbing the plant and used macro to capture the droplets clearly. Lastly the photo on the far right is of the pavement and the not so clear line between the side walk that is under a roof and the wet pavement that is all wet and darker brown. I like this because it shows a somewhat smooth transition between the dry and the wet pavement. Moving to a new house has it's ups and downs, but one up or positive is getting new scenery to photograph. Since our new house is older (though not every thing is old) it has unique wood work that you can only really find in older homes. I wanted to capture the wood work since it is pretty unique to the house. Even though the cabinets are not old or the original cupboards I liked the handles and the color and that is why I have photographed it.
The second photo is of the wooden trim. It is the authentic original trim that was in the house when it was first built. This being said it was thicker and a bit more worn out. This can be said for the rest of the photos since they are all the original stair cases and such. Once thing that stood out to me was the light switch photo where some of the border around the switch is cut off by the trim. I thought it was very interesting that it ended up like that. I liked doing this project because it let me take a closer look at the house and kind of explore it a bit more on a different level. When moving to a new house, even though it is just across town, I have to be at a new bus stop. When walking this morning I noticed a tree had blossomed and I thought it looked so pretty I just had to photograph it. The first photo is of the telephone pole up close to see the texture of the pole. I always like wood because of it's texture and I liked that the pole had an unique one from other type of wood.;
For this photo session I went online and searched "scavenger hunt" into the search engine and I found under images a sample of a scavenger hunt. From there I proceeded to try to find the items on the list. The items to find and take photos of were:
*Items in italics and underlined are the things I did NOT find* Flower Water Tree Spider Web Sand or Dirt Bug Brown Leaf Butterfly Rocks Green Leaf Grass Bird Cloud Ant Tree Bark Fern Pine Needle Some of these items were easy to find such as dirt and grass, but some such as the green leaf and flower was harder to find. It does not help that it is just becoming spring here so somethings have not grown or come out of hibernation yet. Even though I did not get an ant picture, I still found the ant, but it moved so fast that when looking at my camera you could not see the ant in any pf the photos. Even though I could not find all the items on my list it was still fun to look around and try. I have decided to take an item from the lost and found and take photos of how it got lost or where someone might have found it. The first photo (far left) is of the jacket lying on a table. Students and people alike often become in a rush, especially after lunch which brings them to forget their coat or other valuable items on the table. I showed that, by having the coat in a mess on the table. Most people who are in a rush do not bother to set their coat in a nice manner so I wanted to show that in this picture.
Going along with being in a rush, many kids forget their coat on the back of chairs. I have done this many times and have often seen a jacket or two left behind hanging over a chair. That is how I decided to take this photo. Lastly, the third one is of the jacket just laying in the hallway. I have seen this with many items like water bottles, but not too many with jackets, but it can happen. I feel if I turned this photo into black and white or put a vignette around it, it could be a non profit organization ad for lost things that has the slogan "no objects left behind". As a bonus if it was a TV ad it would have the sad music playing in the back ground. :P Some people will laugh at my joke and others will just shake their heads. |
