Sunset project
This project was created so I could experiment more with the camera settings and also to create beautiful and interesting pictures using the sun, specifically at sunset.
For this project, I wanted to use the sunset to create beautiful, and interesting photos. I went to a few local parks and places in my town to create these photos. I started around 5 pm when the sun is about at the sunset spot and I started taking pictures, moving locations once I got done at the park or other place that I was at. I stayed out and took pictures until the sun had completely vanishes and I was left in the dark. This project was a bit tricky. Since I did not really know that much about taking sunset photos I did some research prior to taking the photos.
I found some great tips such as; make sure you have a foreground, some object in the picture. But for the most part I was clueless because most people who wrote the articles had a professional camera and I sadly I do not. I do not have different lenses and such so on what to put on for settings usually did not help me much because I did not have the equipment. What I did take from reading about how to set the camera was to play with the shutter, aperture, and IOS.
I found that for each picture I needed slightly different settings. Also as the sun dipped closer and closer to the horizon I needed to change my settings on my camera. At first I was frustrated because I could not get it, but once I figured out the general settings for each thing, the pictures came easier and easier because I had my baseline for how my camera should be set to. For people who are looking on what setting to put it to, I would say there is no correct setting because every camera is different.
I did try to take pictures of sunrises as well. I went out at around 5 am which was a bad idea, because I ended up having to wait one hour before any trace of light came to the horizon. While I did wait, I tried to take night pictures, but all of the pictures turned out grainy and bad quality. Once the sun did eventually rise, the clouds blocked most of the sun and I could not get much of a sunrise even though I waited about one hour after I say the first glimmer of the sun. I will try sunrise pictures in the future, but probably not too much in the near future.
Overall, I was pleasantly challenged by this project, While I also got to learn more about my camera and how to use it. Like I have mentioned earlier once I learned the "baseline" for what my camera needed to be set to it was fairly easy to teak the settings to get the best picture out of what I was trying to take. Lastly, overall I think that my pictures turned out better than I anticipated.
