"path"Double exposure is easy to do, but also hard. It is easy to do in Photoshop, but hard to actually look good. I chose to take a picture of my hand against a white background and a picture of a cemetery from a previous project.
I like that there are a lot of tree branches and the shadows which gives the hand more detail and covers more of it. I also like that the sidewalk is shown in the picture which gives it more of a story.

So we had a pretty big storm on Sunday and my brother noticed the lighting of the outside and I said we should check it out. That is how I got the top left photo. it was dark except for that little bit of light that you can see in the photo. My brother said it looked like when people see "the light" and they shouldn't go towards it. My camera died shortly after taking the picture and when I climbed down from the train tracks (since it was on a hill) by the time we stepped back outside the lighting outside was gone. The lighting outside was still in between the nice day and the storm, so I took a few more pictures of the lighting and color outside. Within a couple minutes of taking these pictures the sky just looked normal. I couldn't believe how fast the weather changed. My advice for any photographer is to watch when the rain stops and start taking pictures, because cool and fun lighting can be hard to come by sometimes.
so over the weekend, I went to the cemetery and took some pictures of it. Cemeteries can be either beautiful or scary/moody and I feel I got a good mix of both. the first picture that is at the top left and is in black and white has more of a mood. There was a tree and I was under the tree and I noticed the gravestones behind me. I thought it was a good picture and making it black and white added another touch to it.
The second tool (top right) was a close up of a gravestone that was aged quite a bit. I like how in the background there is another gravestone, which adds to the picture. I also like the detail of the moss on the gravestone The two middle pictures are landscape photos of the cemetery. the middle left photo is more concentrated on the gravestone on the right of the picture were the middle right is more concentrated on the walk way. I believe these both show the beauty of the cemetery. The bottom left photo focuses on one grave stone and the surrounding ground This shows mood like serious or sadness because of the lighting and the shadows the tree branches form on the ground. I did not use any filters or anything. The picture looks just how it did on my camera using Auto. I like the different bright areas and shadow. it helps capture the moody part of the cemetery. Lastly the bottom right also shows the beauty of the place. it is the overall view of the cemetery and how it was like for the weekend. Overall, I really liked doing this project because it let me see the cemetery for how it is and it was interesting to find that the oldest graves were in the mid-1800's right after the Civil War, which I thought was cool and interesting. Since I had my friend and we were walking, I decided to do action shots. I used the manual mood on my camera and used a shutter speed of 800 and F 3.3. to take both shots. The first photo is in a nearby cemetery that I was taking pictures of. Putting the picture in black and white it gives it more interest. The last photo is of my friend swinging on a swing at a park. When looking up action shots this is one of the most common one that I found so I decided to do my own take on the sample I looked at with my friend.
"blossom""sun""green" So, it is finally spring and spring is finally here to stay until summer comes. I wanted to show through photos how spring is. The first photo "Blossom" depicts when the snow melts and the trees start looking alive like in the picture above. The buds are starting to form and are about to form leaves again and that's what I wanted to show, but zooming in on the single bud.
The photo "Sun" captures the bright sun and the color of the sun. In this picture the sun is shining and also there is a yellow fire hydrant that symbolizes the sun and it's color. Lastly the photo "Green" shows the bright green grass and also one of my favorite part of spring, when there is no no on the ground and no chance of it coming down anytime soon. "fire""commons"For this project, I was supposed to use some sort of netting or something that has a similar type of fabric/object. I used a strainer/sifter to create these photos. The picture "Fire" was created by putting my camera into the strainer and having the lens focused on the strainer instead of the background. I did the same thing for the photo "Commons". I liked the semi-abstract look of the background where you can tell what it is, but it is not in focus. This was pretty easy and fast assignment to do, which was good because I have less time today to be working on a project than a normal lengthen day.
"library""bookcase"Despite what it looks like, there are no filters. To create both of these pictures I put the camera on Auto mode, set the self timer for 2 seconds, pointed the camera at the subject matter, pressed the shutter button, and take the picture while swinging the camera using the lanyard around in a circle until the picture has been taken. Doing these steps, I have created this semi-blurry, warped looking photos.
Despite the obvious risks with your camera coming out of your grip and breaking, I think it creates a neat effect for the photo. Also what your camera decides to focus on can be pretty random, if it focuses on anything at all. The "Library" picture looks like it is a worm hole or something similar to that, which I find to be interesting. With the photo "Bookcase" I like how it is at an odd angle. If you look closely enough at the books you realize the picture was took while it was upside down which gives it a zero gravity type look (that I just noticed now while typing). Overall, I am very pleased with how it turned out and I like how every time you take it in the same place it can turn out totally different. "school fog""droplets"So earlier this week we had some morning fog and I decided to capture it. The photo "School Fog" shows my school and how thick the fog was. i like that the sidewalk leads the eye to the school and the school leads the eye around to the rest of the picture. I also like the overall composition of the photo with the tree, side walk, etc. It makes for an appealing and interesting photo.
The second photo "Droplets" is a picture of the back of my car window. Even after driving, I could still see water on the back due to the for. I like that I can see the tiny water droplets on the car while the red lines add more interest to the photo. |
